After the altar has been set up (see figure 3-38), step back a few feet from
the altar to view it as the worshipper will see it. Double check the altar to
ensure that everything is in its proper place and that the altar appointments
are properly balanced (Bible centered with cross, candlesticks equal distances
from the cross, etc.). When these steps have all been completed, you should
then ask the chaplain if any adjustments to this basic altar arrangement are
required or desired prior to divine services.
